The Curse of Third Base

I have found that I probably shouldn't play third base during our softball games. I like playing third, but it's pretty obvious third doesn't like me. The first time I played it, a few weeks ago, I got hit right in the toe with a softball. You'd think with softball cleats on, it wouldn't be too bad, but the evidence of the injury still remains (this is after a few weeks of healing):
And then last night I was at third again. I think I made a couple of good plays, so it wasn't totally wasted, but that didn't really make me feel any better when the ball hit me in the shin. What you can't see in this picture is the softball sized bump. At least I can walk without a limp this morning, which is a good thing, because I don't want to be limping around when we go camping tomorrow.

  1. Third is a dangerous position. I played it for most of last season, and I had bruises on my shins for the whole season.

  2. Way to take one (or two) for the team! Are you playing 3rd base next week so I can see you get another injury?

  3. Tell your stupid coach to stop putting you at third. I hear he's kind of retarded.

  4. The coach is kind of a strange guy. You made some great plays though so I see why he puts you on third.
